London Italianate Garden

Our returning client came to us to convert their newly acquired property with a garden containing an uneven lawn with an aging pool surround into a low maintenance, Italianate style showcase that would be ready for use throughout the year around their busy business schedule.

Design

Our client had specified a low maintenance, high impact installation offering year-round usability. The garden needed a Mediterranean feel whilst fitting with the south facing exposed aspect. The Garden was to include a new bespoke garden room to be used as a changing facility after pool use and den for children, whilst incorporating other design elements to provide a wow factor.

Installation process

The project spanning 10 weeks involved large volumes of concrete and poor-quality soil being removed, as well as mature tree stumps prior to construction via narrow access. New garden was constructed with ‘aged feeling’ retaining walls, Western Red cedar screens with matching bespoke pool room. Main garden laid with Luxury Italian ‘Gea’ Porcelain tiles and also incorporating custom built Pergola with Corten steel water block. Garden planted with mature mixed planting, fitted with an automated irrigation and lighting system. Large scale bronze sculpture from award winning sculptor Simon Gudgeon of prima ballerina Ksenia Ovsyanick installed for maximum visual impact.
