To coincide with the completion of a large renovation of this stunning family home in Sevenoaks within a conservation area, our client was seeking a multipurpose garden for all year use. Our mandate was to create a garden of the highest quality using materials befitting the style of the new house as well as the semi-rural location, the installation was to be sympathetic to the style of the new property but semi contemporary in its finish.
Design
The garden was to include a porcelain pool surround to frame a new swimming pool with a feature staircase leading to a new outdoor garden room, framed with raised planters. The garden room was to feature an outdoor kitchen. Main area around the back of the house was to include a large, paved terrace with inset planting pockets and feature trees, complimented with a blend of stylish evergreen and perennial planting.
Installation process
Spanning 16 months from start to completion and suffering treacherous weather at numerous stages, our landscaping teams created multiple areas of high impact landscaping including pool terrace, steps to lower main patio terrace which featured ‘Parasol’ trees to create a ‘Living roofed’ pergola area for covered dining. Main patio beds planted with 70-year-old Tuscan Olive trees and all inset patio beds planted with mixed sun loving plant varieties for maximum impact. Beds fitted with lighting and automated irrigation system. A decayed ‘Knot Garden’ was reconstructed, keeping an existing mature Yew hedge to give the new garden a historic feel.
